Summer Camp 2010:
Summer Camp 2010 is scheduled for Sunday August 8 – Saturday August 14, 2010! We are returning to Marin Sierra!
Camp Marin Sierra had been the home for White Stag for many years until various circumstances put White Stag at Camp John Mensinger. While there were many advantages to Camp John Mensinger, long-time White Staggers fondly remember many of the traditions that began at Marin Sierra and will be glad to be going “home”. For those of us newer to the program, here are some FAQs about Camp Marin Sierra.
Where is it? Camp Main Sierra is less than a mile from US 80 about 30 miles west of Truckee.
What kind of camp is it? It is a Boy Scout camp owned by the Marin Council BSA. There are weeklong Boy Scout camps there through the summer, but there will not be any programs at the camp the week that White Stag is there.
What facilities does it have? It has platform tents and camping areas similar to those at Camp John Mensinger. But instead of a pool, swimming will be in a lake (with BSA-required safe swimming zones).
What’s so great about Marin Sierra? Other than the nostalgia for a beautiful camp on a lake, the biggest advantage is that all phases can hike directly out of camp. There will be no need for driving to trailheads. For more information about Camp Marin Sierra go to:
